Scarfskerry is a popular north coast village which lies just off the A836 road between Castletown and John O'Groats. This idyllic location offers a gentle and peaceful way of life, boasts an attractive harbour and offers coastal walks along virtually the entire length of the shoreline. To the western end there is a quiet beach. The Castle of Mey, the late Queen Mother's Caithness home, is nearby.

Buses to Thurso and Dounreay pass through the village and there is an hotel and small shop in the adjacent village of Mey (2 mile).

Thurso (13 miles) and Wick (23 miles) provide shopping, professional, medical and educational facilities. There are regular bus and rail services south to Inverness and beyond. And, Wick airport offers scheduled flights to Aberdeen and Edinburgh from where links to other UK and international destinations are available. Inverness is a 2½ hour drive (approx) by car. Wick has undergone a major retail expansion with the arrival of Tesco, Homebase, Argos and other national chain stores.
